GazaVoices attempts to create a platform for some Gaza residents to share their experiences and thoughts that have come up since October 2023 and bring outsiders closer to the daily circumstances they are facing.

It was created in response to the ongoing blockade and bombardment of Gaza since October 2023. Being in contact with Gazan friends and/or relatives, we felt that most media reports don’t convey the upheaval the current situation has brought for individual biographies, life plans and relationships.

In conversation with people living in Gaza at this moment, we don’t focus on political analysis but try to highlight this very individual perspective. Palestinians facing the dire situation in Gaza right now talk about changed dreams, relationships, grief and the daily struggle for survival under the siege and bombardment of Gaza.

Our approach

We aim to show the widest possible range of Palestinian experiences from Gaza.

Therefore, it is important to be aware of the personal choices and circumstances of our conversation partners. In a war where journalists have been repeatedly targeted, many Palestinians choose to protect their identity for good reason.

This is why the conversation partner can choose the format in which their experience will be published, the choices being: 1. A live video interview, 2. An audio interview, 3. An interview transcript (text).

Option 2 and 3 present different levels of privacy in case the conversation partner wishes to stay anonymous.

All our interviews will be stored and openly accessible.
